Just as I’m coming around to this season’s penchant for minimalism and a tricky camel-based colour palette, along come the summer shows where bold, vibrant colour has been splashed about with abundance. Talk about confusing.
I’ve been travelling for work throughout much of the Spring/Summer 11 shows but I’ve still managed to catch glimpses of some beautiful pieces. Here are my favourites of those I’ve seen so far.
Always so fresh and original, Prada’s collection stood out with a bold, Latin American theme. Loved the stripey hats, swinging fur stoles, and the androgynous yet elegant hair.
Much more girly than their usual high octane glamour, D&G’s show was just so pretty. It might not be the most original but I can see these gorgeous flowery prints being copied on the high street in a flash.
3. Mary Katrantzou
In contrast to D&G’s wearable but rather safe show, Mary Katrantzou’s interiors inspired collection was highly original. There were skirts that looked like lampshades and prints that looked more curtains than dresses. All made for a very interesting and entertaining collection.
There is never that much excitement around the Jaeger show but I always like their collections and this one didn’t disappoint. They have a knack of making me want to wear every single one of their outfits. This lovely white tunic is a case in point.
5. Jil Sander
What can I say? A genius. This beautiful white dress is just amazing. Everything about it is perfect. I especially like the fact it is unbelievably glamorous yet has a hint of casual with the t-shirt like top. It looks like it might actually be comfortable to wear too. Oh, and it has pockets. Tick. Tick. Tick.
